Finance Manager

Finance Manager senior level reporting to the Managing Director, acting as their right-hand, focused on driving the execution of the business strategy. Covering a variety of sectors within the Build Environment from Commercial, Industrial and Hospitality clients through out Scotland.

 

The role will be working with the board to deliver on the financial objectives of the business with a strong emphasis on forecasting, cost management and implementation of structure to support the business as they continue to grow.

 

The role will have a broad remit including oversight over Commercial, Legal & Risk Management as well as key responsibility over the finance function.

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Lead the timely and accurate development of budgets, forecasts, financial reports, and models that will support and inform the Board, and other senior managers in making informed strategic, operational and investment decisions.

 

Cash and Banking

  1. Daily checking of bank accounts, recording deposits and payments. Updating cashflow and Business Central.
  2. Processing all bank payments.
  3. Weekly bank reconciliation to cashflow and Business Central.
  4. Maintaining bank account balances.
  5. Maintaining relationship with banking team. 
  6. Petty Cash

 

Sales Ledger

  1. Receive information from the commercial team, check to architect certificate and issue invoices to Clients.
  2. Post invoice on Business Central.
  3. Receive payment from bank and allocate to Customer Ledger on Business Central.
  4. Chase up late payments.
  5. Liaise with Directors if any further action is required for late payments.

 

Accounts

  1. Generate and process all monthly journals.

Manager Allocation, Stock Transfers, Site Set-Ups, HP Provision, Expenses, Accruals, Prepayments, Van Recharges, VAT on Mileage, CVR’s, Asset Depreciation and correction journals.

  1. Monitor Balance Sheet control accounts and overhead postings. 
  2. Check Contract Ledger Entries and the General Ledger Entries for job costing agree and analyse the overhead.
  3. Prepare and process the Overhead
  4. Prepare and process the Management Accounts Quarterly 
  5. Prepare and Process the Year End Accounts
  6. Maintain Relationship with the Auditors Milne Craig.

 

VAT

  1. Ensure compliance and reporting VAT to HMRC.
  2. Agree VAT return to General Ledger within Business Central.
  3. Pay monthly instalments and quarterly balances on time.
  4. Ensure compliance with the new DRC for CIS Contractors.

 

Wages & Salaries

  1. Oversee wages payments to all employees.
  2. Ensure compliance with HMRC rules and regulations
  3. Ensure Payment of PAYE and CIS to HMRC

 

HR

  1. Ensure all employees are paid correctly and on time.
  2. Ensure compliance with Real LIVING Wage and the National Minimum Wage Rates.
  3. Ensure compliance in Automatic Enrolment as outlined by the Pensions Regulator including Re-enrolment and Re-declaration legal duties.
  4. Ensure Other Pensions are maintained to the correct amounts and paid over to providers.
  5. Issue Offer Letters, T&C, Termination Letters and any other HR Letters
  6. Employee Benefits including healthcare, pension and holidays. 
  7. Employee Records.  

 

Others

  1. Oversee Admin Department
  2. Oversee IT, including Sage and Business Central Programmes.
  3. Ensure CIS compliance. (Construction Industry Scheme)
  4.  Agree utilities, mobiles, printers and postage.
  5. Office Cleaners and building security.
  6. Payroll and advice
  7. Directors 
  8. Group Banking.

 

Eduction

 

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with a strong commercial skill set.

 

This would ideally suit someone who has worked in an operational finance role, we want someone who has a desire to impact the business and get involved to drive positive change. Previous working experience in a high growth project driven business with detailed understanding of the characteristics of this type of revenue model is desirable. Ideally have experience in the Construction sector
